The entrance of October brings us all things harvest, Autumn and pumpkin!

Whether you’re getting a pumpkin for door decorating, or you’re looking to carve one, it’s vital you select a good gourd for your holiday festivities.

There’s no such thing as the perfect pumpkin, but there are some general rules of thumb for selecting good ones. Check out our tips below:

  • Look for a pumpkin with a good deep orange color
  • Knock on the pumpkin. Hollow sounds means they are ripe
  • Examine the bottom of the pumpkin to ensure it’s not soft or mushy.
  • Don’t pick up a pumpkin by its stem! It could break off and speed up decay.
