We all know the risks of injury that can come from shoveling snow, but did you know snow can cause damage to your landscape as well?
Using plows and shovels are obviously a great method for removing a lot of snow quickly, especially when you have a lot of ground to cover. However, this brute-force method can wreak havoc on your landscape elements.
Here are some tips to avoid landscape damage while clearing snow:

use light-reflectors to mark the edges of sidewalks, driveways, etc. If the snow plow driver can’t see the edge of your driveway, there’s a better chance the snow plow will cause damage to your lawn.

If you’re shoveling your own snow, don’t pile snow on your plants and shrubbery. The weight can cause damage to branches, not to mention the excess salt buildup.

Don’t handle ice-encased branches, if possible. Wait until the ice has melted off, to prevent breakage.

Keep your vehicles off your lawn. Even though the ground is frozen, the weight can still cause damage to the lawn and grass.

Clear the snow as soon as possible. The longer it sits on your ground, the harder it can become and will require more vigorous effort to remove.
